“We know that in September, we will wander through the warm winds of summer’s wreckage. We will welcome summer’s ghost.” – Henry Rollins
September flies by and the month really feels like an extension of summer. A scattering of cool mornings shoved aside by humid afternoons.
It’s October 1st, and my A/C is still running.
Thankfully, I am too, with two big running events looming during the second week of October (Ragnar race) and a half marathon (November 3rd).
I finished a great book – The Rise of the Ultra Runners: A Journey to the Edge of Human Endurance by Adharanand Finn – and while I’m nowhere close to running an ultra, reading about the experiences of others is putting the thought in the back of my mind.
I’m looking forward to the colder runs, the darker mornings, the coming holidays, and growing out my beard again.
My total miles for the year is 844, just 156 miles shy of my goal.
How far are you from your goals?
See ya out there.
